$7 may not usually get you much but just now it will buy you plenty of listening pleasure in the form of the beautiful debut EP by The Golden Rule.
The Golden Rule is the solo project of Charlie McArthur, guitarist and vocalist with indie-popsters, Bears. On this solo project McArthur maintains the pretty but witty lyrics already heard on tracks by Bears such as Wait & See from the band’s latest album, Simple Machinery.
Although less sunny than the music of Bears, The Golden Rule should definitely make you smile in appreciation that music this sweet is still being made.
Two of our favourite tracks from the EP can be heard below and should confirm that McArthur’s own description of The Golden Rule’s music as sounding like “someone could use a few more voice lessons” is sheer humility.
